Brooke Truscott-Arthur

Hi, I'm Brooke, a watercolour artist based in New Brunswick, Canada.

My entire life I have been creative and artsy. I took visual art classes all through high school, I would sketch random things at random times on random things, and always felt drawn to creative expression. Then adulthood happened. I became a mom, life got busy, and creativity slowly slipped into the background.

Before picking up a paintbrush again, I spent nearly ten years as a Naval Communicator in the Royal Canadian Navy. That chapter of my life took me across Canada, living in Quebec for a short time, Ontario, and British Columbia before eventually settling down in New Brunswick. Each place left its mark and they continue to influence my paintings today.

Creativity re-entered my life again when a really good friend, Rhea, suggested nature journaling with watercolours. I was immediately all in. I bought a watercolour journal, paints, brushes - all of it - and jumped right in! I soon realized I had no idea what I was doing.

So, I started learning. I watched YouTube videos, practiced basic techniques, and painted over and over again. Something clicked. The more I practiced, the more confident I became, until I realized I was actually pretty good at painting with watercolours!

Now, here we are - Puddles of Pigment.

Most of my work focuses on the landscapes and local scenes of New Brunswick, however, you will still find the influence of beautiful British Columbia in a lot of my pieces. I am drawn to the quiet moments, changing light and familiar places that feel comforting yet wild. I love watercolour for its unpredictability, and ability to produce a seamless blend of colours.

Each painting is an invitation to slow down and notice the beauty in your everyday surroundings.

Thank you for being here and for supporting my work. I hope you find something that feels familiar, calming or meaningful to you.
